LifeSpan Fitness SP1000 Stretch Partner versus Precor 240i Commercial Stretch Trainer, How do they Compare?

Stretch Trainer Machines use gravity to stretch all the major muscle groups of the body. Stretching helps to improve your overall flexibility and is ideal for pre- and post-workout sessions as well as for helping to strengthen the lower back. Regular stretching exercises will help to reduce the risk of injuries from exercising and will also help to improve your posture, flexibility and balance.

Both the LifeSpan Fitness SP1000 Stretch Partner and the Precor 240i Commercial Series Stretch Trainer have a fairly small footprint, so are ideal to place in your home without taking up too much space.  As the name suggests, the Precor 240i Commercial Stretch Trainer is great for both commercial and home use, whereas the Lifespan Fitness SP1000 Stretch Partner is more suited for home use or light commercial use.

Coming close in quality to the Precor 240i Commercial Series Stretch Trainer, the LifeSpan Fitness SP1000 Stretch Partner Stretching Machine is more than good enough for home use or light commercial use and costs a lot less money too, saving you valued $$s.

Let’s take a look at the main differences between the LifeSpan Fitness SP1000 Stretch Partner and the Precor 240i Commercial Stretch Trainer to help you decide which is the best stretching machine for you:

Main Differences between the LifeSpan Fitness SP1000 Stretch Partner and the Precor 240i Commercial Stretch Trainer

The LifeSpan SP1000 Stretch Partner actually has a higher user weight capacity over the Precor, with the LifeSpan SP1000 having a 300 lbs maximum user weight, whereas the Precor 240i has a maximum user weight of 250 lbs.

The LifeSpan SP1000 is a heavier machine, weighing around 10 lbs more than the Precor 240i Stretch Trainer.  The heavier weight adds to the stability of the machine and allows for the higher user weight capacity as mentioned above.

The overall dimensions of the two stretch trainers also vary, with the Precor 240i being slightly longer in length at 52” long whereas the LifeSpan SP1000 Stretch Partner is around 48” long, so the Precor would suit a slightly taller person.

It’s important to bear in mind the design of the frame when looking at these 2 stretch trainers.  The front pole to the handlebars on the LifeSpan Stretch Partner is actually a kind of hinged joint that flexes on a rubber stopper (LifeSpan’s flex-smart pivot system).  This gives a slightly different feel to your stretching exercises compared to the Precor 240i Stretch Trainer which has 2 solid poles going to the handlebars.  This system supposedly allows for a greater range of movement and deeper stretches but can take some getting used to, as it can give the feeling of falling backwards as you lean.  The frame design of the Precor 240i may actually give many people a more stable feel.  It really comes down to personal preference and what you’re used to.  If you’ve ever used a Stretch Trainer at a gym, the chances are it was a Precor that you used.

Warranties provided with the 2 stretch trainers differ, as follows:

·         LifeSpan Fitness SP1000 Stretch Partner Stretching Machine:  Residential warranty with 5 years on frame, 1 year on parts, and 90 days on upholstery;  Commercial warranty with 1 year on parts and frame, and 90 days on upholstery.
·         Precor 240i Commercial Stretch Trainer:  5 years on frame, 2 years on parts, 90 days on upholstery.

Similarities between the LifeSpan Fitness SP1000 Stretch Partner and the Precor 240i Commercial Stretch Trainer

Both stretch trainers come with an instruction board (flip board on the Lifespan SP1000) attached close to the top of the handlebars with instructions/illustrations on how to perform some of the most essential stretches.

Both stretch trainers come with wrist straps for added security and control.

Both stretch trainers feature a cushioned seat and kneepads for comfort.

See what other customers who have bought either the LifeSpan Fitness SP1000 Stretch Partner or the Precor 240i Commercial Stretch Trainer have to say about them:

T.S.:
“The LifeSpan Fitness SP1000 Stretch Partner is much more affordable than the ones you see at the gym and works just as well.  I’ve found it to be very helpful with stretching my back but obviously you can use for other things like stretching hamstrings etc.  I can get a deeper stretch with this machine compared to trying to do stretching exercises on the floor.  It was fairly easy to assemble and is nice and sturdy.”

P.J.:
“I highly recommend the Precor 240i Stretch Trainer to anyone who wants to maintain flexibility without pain!  It’s great and helps you to stay young.”

  1. Hello I have been looking at the Nitrofit Limber Pro stretch machine on Costco.ca. It looks like it has an adjustable seat and a calf stretch board. Have you seen or used it? How does it compare to Lifespan or Precor?
